‘The islands, home to around 54.000 people and to over 70 different types of føroyskur seyður (Faroese sheep) in an amazing variety of colours and patterns, stole our hearts. The high waves predicted for our return journey were not going to take that feeling away from us. ‘Fear not, my children,’ said Saint Brendan the Abbot, ‘for God has last night revealed to me the mystery of all this; it was not an island you were upon, but a fish, the largest of all that swim in the ocean’.
